Cherry Pie Anyone???

006
I surprised Mr. Bird Nest this week with a cherry pie.

007
A little scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and it just doesn't get any better.

He was feeling a little depressed because he has to work on Saturday.  I thought this might cheer him up and it did.

Planning for a vacation...

001
The end of March we are going to Florida for a week and we are super lucky to be getting to take Nicholas, our 8 year old grandson, with us.  It just happens that his Spring Break is the same week Mr. Bird Nest is off from work.  I think we're more excited about him going than he is.

I found these two games for Nicholas and I to play in the car.  When I travel with the grandchildren I always take a bag of surprise treats to entertain the kids.

002

Both of the games are like Bingo and I found them at Cracker Barrel.

Kitchen changes completed...

009
This is my mini-renovation of the kitchen.  I must give credit to Rue of Rue's Peanut Butter and Jelly blog.  She was my inspiration.

010
These are my dishes I use everyday and it's fun to have people be able to see them now and for me to find what I have.

011
I even bought, cut, painted and nailed in a rail at the back of the cupboards so that I could stand up plates.  It was fun and really easy to do too.  Cost about $11.00.

012
Not much new in this corner but I did paint the insides of these open shelves above.

013
We can actually eat dinner at the table now.

014
I've moved the island, again.

015
This gives you a better view of the open cupboards.

002
I also bought a divider for my spices and put them in a drawer (divider about $15.00).  No more listening for Mr. Bird Nest asking where's this or where's that.

I hope you like the changes.  It was a really inexpensive project to do.  (About $40.00 total).  Our kitchen is 20 years old and sometime, if my ship comes in, I'd like to really remodel it.  For right now, I'm happy to have a pretty kitchen and one that belongs to us.  I know some people are struggling now and I'm pleased to show you changes that don't cost a lot.

Lauren turns 3 with a Yo Gabba Gabba Party...

008
Lauren actually turns 3 this week but we celebrated her birthday on Saturday at her house.  Elizabeth (DIL & teacher) created all these adorable Yo Gabba Gabba bags.  It's Lauren's favorite TV show.

011
Here's Lauren with our son, her Uncle Rick.

016
Elizabeth designed the cake and ordered the decorations on-line.

023
Here's the entire family with Lauren.  Her brother Carson, Lauren, Elizabeth and her Dad (our other son) Chris.

025
Lauren with her best friend and cousin, Chloe.

034
Grandma Gigi, Lauren and Chris.

051
Nicholas with his Steeler shirt.  There's always next year.

048
Lauren's other Uncle Rick (Elizabeth's brother) and Gigi.

047
Papa, who looked a little tired that day.

039
Lauren got lots of great gifts.  Clothes, gift cards, a Kai Lan doll, a Tinker Belle Doll, boots and gardening tools, a Leap Frog and I can't remember everthing else.  She is blessed, as we all are.
