Carson's First Sleep Over...

001

Carson is our grandson who is 6 years old.  His Mom and Dad are very protective of he and his sister and he's never slept over at our house.......until Thursday, March 18.  (I knew when they were ready, he would be allowed to stay.)  They could be parents who dump their kids here every weekend, so I think we're lucky.  They are great parents, who love their children.  What more could grandparents hope for?

We had our first sleepover.  We watched one of the Disney Air Bud movies and ate popcorn (in bed).  Then we read some stories and off to sleep.  (He didn't have school Friday).

The one thing I forgot was that Papa had the day off on Friday too.  Carson got up about 5:15 to go to the bathroom, saw Papa at his computer and Carson was up for the day.

We were painting crafts by 7:00 a.m.  I was a little worried we would run out of things to do but it was a beautiful day and he played outside too.

Nana took a big nap after his Mom picked him up.

My friend the Novelist...Nancy Martin...

001
Nancy grew up on the same street I did.  Well actually, her father bought a piece of property from my Daddy and built a home for his family there.  It was on the edge of our farm.  I baby sat she, her brother and sister a few times but I was probably the worst babysitter on record.

003
She's been writing for a long time and has a new series and book out.

She actually graduated from high school with my husband.

004
Her other series was about the Blackbird Sisters and was great fun to read.

I haven't read the new book yet but I'm sure it's very entertaining.

Thanks for reading.

Touches of Spring...

002
I got this bunch of forsythia on sales at Michael's last year for $1.25.  I think I got the bunny at Pier !.

003
These bunnies I've had for many years and I love the speckled plastic eggs from Hobby Lobby.

005
More colored eggs.

007
I got this adorable rooster plant holder for my birthday.  I love what was in it.  No water, no soil and no fuss.

006
Isn't this cute?

008
More bunnies.

009
My sister Susan made these little bunnies in a ceramics class for me in 1973.

010
This little hen and chicks were my mother's.

011

My children always put these in their Easter baskets.

Beautiful Waverly Fabric...

002

I went to The Old Time Pottery on Saturday to get a rug and found this Waverly Fabric.  I couldn't resist this toile.  Any seamstress knows you buy fabric when you see it, whether you need it or not or know what you are going to do with it.

003

There were 8.1 yards for $3.98 a yard.  I love the roosters and it was a great deal too.

Thanks for reading.

New Books...

111
In a small house like ours, storage is key to not having clutter.  OK..........I've got clutter everywhere but I'm always trying not to have clutter.  I thought this book might help.

113

Since my goal in life was to be a housewife and then I retired after 35 years of working outside my home, I have a lot of catching up to do.  Since I worked as an Executive Assistant, I've got a lot of organizing to do also.  I'm working on a cleaning schedule, menu planning and all the things I never really had time to do.

This book tells about how to run the modern home.  I seem to bounce from one project to another, so I'm planning to get organized.  I'll let you know if it helps.

This is the introduction to the book:

Housewife (n):  a married woman who looks after the house and family and does not have a paid job.'

Chambers Dictionary, 2003

Dang, that's kind of how I felt during those 35 years!

 001

I found this book at Garden Ridge for $5.99 and since I'm crazy in love with open shelves, I had to have it.
