More Painting...

001

The front of the house is completed.

002

The front porch is done.

003
The painter on the right is a Clemson Graduate from May.  The one on the left is a student at University of South Carolina.  Any employer would be lucky to get either one of them as an employee.

 004
They are finishing up the back today.

005
You can see the other side of the screened porch and also my sample painting of a shutter for the house.  We've already ordered the shutters but I won't tell you yet what color we chose.

This weekend we're going to get the new garage lights and front porch light.

Mr. Bird Nest painted our garage door white and with a few hinges and handles, we're going to turn it into a carriage door.  Replacing our Clopay door with a new Clopay door didn't make much sense.  My son Rick suggested we do what he sees a lot.  Buy large hinges and handles for the door and make it look like a carriage door.  They actually sell kits for that on the Internet.

Tomorrow, I'll show the pictures of the house fully painted.  I already miss my little painter guys.  They were a lot of fun to have around and besides that, they did a great job.

Hugs, Gretchen

Tomorrow you will see the final house painting

Our pretty little cottage...

I was inspired by Dawn of The Gahan Girls who recently painted her home a different color.  That's one of the fun things about blogging.  I can sit here at my little desk in SC and be inspired by a friend in GA.

TAKING DOWN THE SHUTTERS AND POWER-WASHING THE HOUSE

006

The former look of the front of the house.

The back of the house by the walkway and screened porch.

010
You can see where the shutters came down and how faded the siding was.

FIRST COAT OF PAINT

004

Ta Da!!!  This is the first coat of paint on the front of the house.  Don't you love it?

003
It was definitely time for a change.  The 2nd coat should go on tomorrow.

My painters are an interesting crew.  They are part of www.studentpainters.biz from the University of South Carolina.  This is a long, hot job and these kids are all attendees of USC.  I've fed them brownies, lemonade and lots of water.  They even took a swim in the pool after lunch.  What nice young men they are.  Mr. Bird Nest and I liked the idea of helping kids with their education.  I plan to bake them chocolate chip cookies tomorrow.

Carson's Swimming...

 002

Only 3 weeks till school starts so Chris and Elizabeth are hurrying to get Carson swimming before it begins.  Between piano lessons and Tae Kwan Do he's had a busy summer.

Carson has had a problem putting his face in the water and now he doesn't want to take it out.

001
He and his Mom were over this morning so he could practice while his sister Lauren is at day care.

Starting tomorrow we have a big project beginning at our house.  I'll let you know how it goes.

Hugs, Gretchen
