Happy Thanksgiving to the best carpenter in Greenville, SC!

001

These are my new bookshelves Rick built in my living room.  Rick is on the right.

002

I just told him basically what I wanted and he took it from there.

003

He finished them yesterday but you'll have to wait to see that picture.

I was thinking of having everyone who is here for Thanksgiving paint two shelves but then I remembered Lauren is 3 and Carson is 6.  Those shelves might be a little different.

I'll show you the painted shelves next week.

Happy Thanksgiving!

A weekend trip to Highlands, NC...

006

We took a trip to Highlands, NC last weekend.  We stopped in Hendersonville to have some lunch.  The lunch here was fabulous.  Hud actually counted the meatballs they put on my meatball sub and there were 8.  Can you imagine?   It was huge and delicious.  We'll be going back there again.  Mr. Bird Nest had to eat half of it.

007

The leaves still looked pretty to me.

I got these two canes in Highlands.  I'm surprised I could afford anything in that town.  I love it there but everything was geared to the rich.  (That's not us for sure).

Isn't he cute?  I just had to have him.

A Visitor from Atlanta...

I've been lucky enough to be corresponding with Dawn Gahan of http://gahangirls.blogspot.com/ for the last couple of years.

A few weeks ago Dawn was able to come to Greenville to visit for a day.  We felt like we'd know each other forever.  We started out the day going to Nicholas' football game.  Dawn had heard so much about my family she wanted to meet them all.

After the game, we started out on a day of shopping.  Dawn likes "thrift shopping" so I took her to almost every thrift store I know in the area.  I did save a few for her next visit.

At 4 o'clock we were exhausted and headed for home.  Hud cooked us filets from Fresh Market on the grill and I had made twice baked potatoes the night before.  We had a salad and bread and then apple pie.

Being the idiot that I am, I forgot to take a picture of us.  Oh well, that will be for next time.

004

This was the largest item I bought.  I broke the mirror out of this frame and Hud cut me a piece of luan for the backing.

004

After painting the frame gold and the luan with chalkboard paint it's ready to go.

When I figure out where to hang it I will let you know.

Hugs, Gretchen
