A Day of Rearranging...

Have you ever had a day where you have a plan and then it suddenly goes haywire? My plan was to continue working in the yard but the day has just gotten away from me. I moved one little table from the den to the master bedroom and that was it.

Now I'm the "Queen" of furniture rearranging and one little move started another and then another.

I just wasn't happy with the way the living room looked.  We have a very tiny house and after I had my son (the contractor) build me the shelving, it's even smaller.

I needed to arrange things so that it was more comfortable and easier to move around.

My family came to the U.S. hundreds of years ago from England and that is the decorating style that I aspire to.  I'll never have that pared down, clean look that many blogs have.  I love antiques, ironstone and Spode china, lush draperies, chintz, baskets, and animals.  I don't have any animals now but I adore my collections of china and cast iron horses, dogs and more.

I've got to get back to all this fun before Mr. Bird Nest Cottage gets home from work and looks for his dinner.

Happy Friday!

Gretchen

  3. Wow, wish I had that built-in shelving! So pretty. Yes, I do definitely go through those periods when I'm rearranging seemingly everything. Did that just recently in fact.

  6. Gretchen, what a lovely room! I love those bookshelves and the seating arrangement and all your vignettes. They are all beautiful. I love changing furniture around too. But I must say you do a great job of it! The look is wonderful. You go girl...at least until the next furniture moving day! Hahaha.
