What are you reading Tuesday...
I grew up voracious reader! I just couldn't read enough books. First it was kid books, then Nancy Drew, then anything I was interested in. I read a lot of horse books because I loved horses and riding. I read a lot of books about Abe Lincoln. When I was in my twenties, I read a lot of self help books trying to make my marriage work. Now, I read mostly mysteries or decorating books.
This is a part of my library. You can see books by John Grisham, Steve Martini, James Patterson, Harlen Coben, Lisa Scottoline, Michael Palmer and many more.
I collect books by Frances Parkinson Keyes. She was an author in the 1930's and 1940's.
I have some of my mother's collection of Detective Book Club books. She had hundreds of them and when she passed away, I kept some of hers and my favorites.
I have decorating books by the hundreds. I gave a lot away a few years ago to the Literary Guild in our area for their annual book sale.
You can see I love cottage style books.
I love, love English decorating so I've got lots of those books.
I've always wanted a dream kitchen so I have lot of those books. I may need them in the not too distant future but that's our little secret.
I have about 250 books on my Kindle, but there is nothing like the touch or feel of a real book.
I love decorating my garden too.
Starting next Tuesday (if I can figure it all out) I'm going to begin a weekly link-up of books you and I are reading. It can be romance, mystery, sci-fi, parenting, just whatever you like. And you can review it from your perspective.
I read about anything. It could be the cereal box. Or a milk carton.
I'm so excited that my grandson Carson loves, loves to read too. His Dad went to Barnes & Noble twice last week to get him more books. He's in 2nd grade. In first grade he read all the Harry Potter books. Yeah, I know. He didn't get any of those smarts from me.
Anyway.....next week you will be able to link up to my blog (fingers crossed) with the book you are currently reading.
See you then.
Gretchen

I too LOVE to read! I always have a book with me. Now that I have a Kindle too, I always have that with me. My girls are random readers, must take after their Dad. He says he is a reader, because he looks through magazines at night to fall asleep. Me a book is better, but I do love my Kindle! Great post and Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love that you visit!
ReplyDeleteOh, Gretchen, so excited about this! I have always been a voracious reader, too. I have lots of decorating books but read so many other genres, too. Looking forward to your link-up.
ReplyDeleteLots of books. I am not a big reader. I can't start a book without thinking I have to read it straight through. But I read alot of magazines and newspapers. ALways reading something.....food labels, hah.
ReplyDeleteSecret.....hmmmmm.
Hi Gretchen! Oh, what a lovely display of your books! I used to read so very much when I was younger. My daughter inspires me now. She is in a book club and they read "Those Across the River" and got me interested in it and I ordered it and read it. It was kinda spooky but well written. I was on a tear once reading every James Patterson book I could get my tiny hands on!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great linky party!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I love to read too. I used to spend entire Saturdays for years laying on the couch reading a book and eating candy-lol. Now I just seem to find time to read for about a half an hour before falling asleep from my Nook.
ReplyDeleteBig reader here, too Gretchen - mom and dad were big time readers, too.
ReplyDeleteJust finished a fun one written by a fellow blogger named Michael Lee West called "Gone with a Handsomer Man." It was a cute easy read about a fun gal named Teeny Templeton.....her sequel just came out April 1st, last month, so I have to buy and read that too.
I always keep a book in the car for waiting for appointments or bad traffic or travelling - the one currently is "The Accidental Tourist." It started out really slow and I almost quit it, but it is finally starting to grow on me.
My next real read is for book club called "The Forgotten Garden." It is a long one but anyone who has read it says it is their new favorite. My eldest daughter claims it to be her all time favorite, and that comes high on my list of trusted recommendations! She reads 4 books a week, that one!
Today I received in the mail from a loving tea society friend/sister a little tea treats book filled with wonderful recipes.
Life is good.
What a neat idea, Gretchen. I do love to read too! I don't have a Kindle yet. Just haven't been able to talk myself into giving up that book feel. My email address is wallsmom@gmail.com. I want you to send me your address so I can send you that cookbook. I cannot get your email link to work!
