Random Thoughts and Picasa...
I had to recycle one of my favorite pictures today.
Yesterday, I added a different storage system for all my photos and I decided to use Picasa. One small problem. It won't recognize my camera downloads and I can't find the disk to download it to Picasa. Now I have to wait for my Information System person to get here. That's Mr. Bird Nest and he's at work until at least 7:00 tonight.
I had lunch and shopped in downtown Greenville yesterday with three of my friends and didn't get home until 5:30 p.m. You won't believe it but I took pictures of Christy's garden (we met at her house) and they didn't download. I've already e-mailed her and hope to go back to her house soon to retake them.
The picture above is of a stained glass window Mr. Bird Nest got me for our anniversary a few years ago. He built a new frame around it and we hung it in the living room window. The window faces West and it really glows in the afternoon sun. To me, the colored glass almost looks like an angel.
Anyhoo, last Saturday was Mr. Bird Nest's and my 22nd wedding anniversary. Did I tell you we dated for almost ten years before we got married? We had both been married before and were really scared to do it again. It's been wedded bliss ever since. Not!!! We've had our ups and downs but we learned to communicate better, not to have to always be right and most of all to be a team.
Today, I've got Lauren (5) and Carson (8) here while my DIL Elizabeth (the 1st grade teacher) attends a class. Will it ever be pool time? It's the best babysitter in the world!
I'm off to Haven in Atlanta tomorrow and I have one-hundred things to do to get ready. My worst habit is procrastinating and I may just be the Queen of it. I still have to have a pedicure, take my car washed and cleaned inside, pack my suitcase and heaven knows what else. Tomorrow, I get a haircut at 9:00 a.m. and then hopefully, leave for Atlanta about noon. It's about a three hour drive. I rarely go anywhere without Mr. Bird Nest but he's got himself all organized with meals and lunches while I'm gone.
Sunday, Rick and Noelle had us over to their house for dinner for father's day. Rick and Mr. Bird Nest spent part of the time trying to get Rick's present (a camera) to work. It's a tiny thing used for extreme sport photography.
Here they are hard at work.
Nicholas was installing Skype on his laptop so we can talk to him and he can also talk to his other grandparents in North Carolina. So far, it has been a lot of fun.
Noelle took a new picture of me for my blog and Facebook and she also snapped this picture of Chloe and I. She is such a precious little girl and I love her bunches and bunches.
I've been thinking of having plastic surgery on my eyelids and judging from this picture, it needs to happen soon. I have no eyelids anymore. Oh well, I told you this blog was partly random thoughts and I'm always brutally honest.
I've got to get back to kid watching. Carson is blasting something with guns blazing on Papa's computer and Lauren is watching "Another Cinderella Story" on the Disney Channel. I wonder what time Elizabeth is picking them up.......

I love your stained glass. I wish I could help you with camera problems but I am still learning too!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time tomorrow!
I love that framed stained glass. As to cosmetics, I know how you feel. Someday I may get the "Lifestyle Lift", I have no eyelids either, and people are always asking me if I am mad, when it's just that my face is melting! I won't get into my jowls and neck issues, but you get my drift. I know a friend who had it done and she looks natural and great! I think whatever makes you feel better about yourself is worth it. I never want my picture taken for these reasons, and it is a shame there will be no photo history of me for my grandchildren, which is also one of the reasons I may go through with it. As soon as we pay off all the bills, of course!
ReplyDeleteHi Grethen! Random is good sometimes. Lovely stained glass you have and I didn't know you and your hubby dated 10 years before you married. I guess you both knew each other pretty well! :) I think you look pretty just like you are but if want to do something that makes you feel better - go for it! My mom had her eyelids lifted years ago. :)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
shelia ;)
Fun hearing bits and pieces here today. Have fun at Haven!
ReplyDeleteI love random posts and this is a great one! You look wonderful in the picture! And a big Happy Anniversary...you are so honest, it's always a lot of ups and downs!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Gretchen!
XO,
Jane
Happy Anniversary. I love the new picture. Have fun at the conference. Can't wait to hear all about it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great random post- I hate anything having to do with computers and cameras and trying to get them to recognize each other- drives me nuts. Love all the family pictures and I think you are just beautiful! Your little Chloe is just darling- I can tell you don't like her much!;>)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary- and blessings for many more- xo Diana
I enjoy random thoughts from bloggers. Keeps it real! Great photos, have fun!
ReplyDeleteGretchen, I enjoyed this post. I love stained glass too. And I have those hangers you posted a last week. I think your son looks just like your grandson. Your yards are beautiful. How interesting that you and your husband dated for 10 years. You have a great smile. I hate pics of myself. We are too critical of ourselves. Random replies for your random thoughts.
